Boo's Flash: Episode 1 - Playtime

From Boo

Boo on the floor with toys

Hi, I’m Boo. My two-legged mom, Mommy O, is making me write this blog because she doesn’t want to. I’m a 3 year old Mudi. I had a home before her, but they didn’t like it when I chased their horses, so I ended up moving to Virginia. Now instead of chasing horses, I chase balls and frisbees and play lots of other games. I also get to play with my brothers and sister.

Mommy O is a vetenariarian. I’m not sure what that means exactly, but she comes home from work smelling like lots of other dogs and cats and sometimes other animals. And sometimes I get to go to work with her. It didn’t used to be a lot of fun to go to work. Mommy O basically ignored me and told me she was busy. Then I started to get to meet friends. Mommy O says I can’t meet everyone, but I did get to meet Olive because she was kinda a baby, and she is fun to play with. Sometimes my little brother Qwerty gets to play with Olive too. Sometimes it’s still not fun to go to work with Mommy O if I don’t get to play with anyone, because I still get ignored by Mommy O. But I love it when there are friends here.

Sometimes two-legged parents have to have help taking care of their dogs and cats when they’re too busy - so they come stay at the place where Mommy O works. If they don’t spend the night, they call it “daycare”. It’s kinda like babysitting. During daycare, they get to play with fun team members a bunches of times every day. And when I get to come to work with Mommy O, sometimes I get to play with them too. But only if we get along.

Sometimes two-legged parents have to go away to places where they can’t take their dogs and cats. Those dogs and cats can come stay and spend the night if they have to. The nice people here feed them and play with them and make sure they have comfy beds to sleep on at night. They also tell the ventoriarians if they’re having any problems like not eating (gasp! Does anyone actually not eat?) or if they’re pooping or pee-peeing funny. They can either eat their own food from home if the two-legged parents bring it, or eat the restaurant food here.

And now from Dr. O

Anyhow, I guess I’m going to end this now. Boo ran off to play with some of my other dogs. But I wanted to make sure everyone knows that Dublin Animal Hospital offers overnight boarding and daycare, both full days and half days. Daycare pets get two to four 15 minute long play sessions, depending on how long they stay with us. Dogs and cats must be up to date on their vaccines, and have had a clear stool check within the last 12 months. And no - not every dog plays with Boo or Qwerty. For one thing, they don’t come to work with me every day. And of course some dogs would rather not play with another dog, and that’s fine too.

Our kennel staff is great about making sure everyone is as comfortable as possible and has all their needs met. But it was a lot of fun watching our buddy Olive run around with one or the other of my youngest dogs to burn off some steam and become a little more fluent in “dog”. And even when my dogs aren’t here, she got to spend some time up front chilling with our reception staff. I hear there are some good pictures of her on our Facebook page.
